350-475-450-500-550- Series CLASSIC™, SPRINT™, QUATTRO™ Engines

The Briggs & Stratton CLASSIC, SPRINT, QUATTRO vertical crankshaft side valve engines also known as L- head engines. This type of engine is normally fitted to walk behind equipment.
These engines have a sponge air cleaner either Yellow or Green, a metal tank with the carburettor mounted directly to the petrol tank and ALL have a primer system for starting the engine from cold.

This type of engine is no longer manufactured and if it is necessary to replace this engine with a new one, you will have to replace it with an over head valve engine which has the muffler fitted to the opposite side. Ensure that you have sufficient room before ordering a new engine.
